10.07.08 — posted in: news
OMAHA, NE - The Midwest Cancer Center Imaging Services has received certification from the American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation for Nuclear Medicine. They are the first Out-Patient facility to receive accreditation through ACR in the City of Omaha. In addition, there are only four Nuclear Medicine departments in the State of Nebraska that are currently Accredited through ACR.
Nebraska Cancer Specialists operate the Midwest Cancer Center Imaging Services located at in the Midwest Cancer Center at17201 Wright Street in Omaha, Nebr. This location combines all of the multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment services for cancer patients at one location, including state-of the art imaging and diagnostic equipment, chemotherapy, radiation oncology, surgical services and numerous support services said Robert Langdon, M.D., of Nebraska Cancer Specialists.
The accreditation programs of the American College of Radiology (ACR) are the most established and widely proven for all imaging modalities. For facilities committed to quality imaging, the ACR Nuclear Medicine Accreditation Program provides a solid foundation for a continuous quality improvement program through a peer review and educational process, said Aimee Bannister, Director of Imaging Services at the Midwest Cancer Center.
The voluntary ACR Nuclear Medicine Accreditation Program evaluates the qualifications of personnel, equipment, image quality, and quality control measures. It is believed that these are the primary factors that have an impact on the quality of patient imaging. The ACR has a long history, dating back to 1963, of leadership in quality assurance and accreditation activities that assess the quality of imaging facilities.
